About the Farm

CIMG3510We are very lucky to live in such a lovely part of the Gloucestershire countryside.

Ken and his family have lived in Deerhurst since the 1950’s and have worked hard to enhance and develop the farm.  On our 230 acres we milk about 150 cows and rear all the young stock who are destined to become part of the milking herd.

We grow about 20 acres of maize which is feed to our cows, alongside grass silage, during the winter.

In April 2009 we invested in a robotic milking machine which has totally revolutionised the way we milk cows. Fully automatic, the cows come into the robot and get milked when they want, 24 hours a day.

Gone are the days of getting up at the crack of dawn to milk!

Our milk is collected every other day and sent to the local ‘Cotteswold Dairy’ where it is bottled and sold to local shops.

The farm is bordered by the River Severn and has two small woods.     The farmland provides a flourishing habitat for wildlife and locals have reported sightings of deer and muntjac.

If you would like to have a tour during your stay please ask and we will be happy to show you around and try to answer any questions about the farm or its wildlife.

Don’t forget your wellies!
